Brian Eno’s Speaker Flower Sound Installation
Yesterday I went to see Brian Eno’s Speaker Flower Sound Installation in Marlborough House on Brighton’s Old Steine. This lovely but strange grade I listed building for me was almost more exciting that Brian Eno’s exhibition. I’ve walked past this building many time and wondered what the interior is like. I did like the exhibition and in particular the small room sandwiched between the room with the fake grass and the speaker flower installation room. The little box room has a number of potted plants and large comfortable chairs. Once you weaved your way through the plants, sat down and put on one of the headphone you melted into tranquility.
I was enthralled by the unusual layout of the stairs and the doors that lead to other parts of the building that the public couldn’t access. Apparently the interior has had a lot of reorganising done to it over the years. Well worth a visit before the festival finishes.
